The practice of clean eating has always appealed to me because it’s a lifestyle, not a fad. I’ve been looking for a go-to guide on clean eating since starting my fitness journey two years ago. I can hear you saying, “Jasmyne, just type ‘clean eating’ into a search engine or Pinterest. You’ll get a ton of results from multiple sources.” I know and that’s great, but I wanted something with all the rules in one place. After two years of searching, I’ve found just what I was looking for in Tosca Reno’s The Eat-Clean Diet Presents- Just the Rules: Tosca’s Guide to Eating Right.
Reno has many different roles such as mother, fitness model, and motivational speaker. She is a New York Times bestselling author and certified nutritional therapy practitioner. After losing her husband, Robert Kennedy, to cancer Reno became the CEO of Robert Kennedy Publishing. Reno also manages to find time to write a monthly column for Oxygen magazine. With her 56th birthday coming up on May 22, Reno showcases the power of clean eating by looking youthful, energetic, and healthy.
The Eat-Clean Diet Presents- Just the Rules is one of many books from the Eat-Clean Diet series. Reno notes her inspiration for adding Just the Rules to the collection in the introduction, “I needed to write a simple, fun, upbeat and portable book that would serve as a guide to help people begin embracing the Eat-Clean Diet lifestyle.” This book is indeed compact. It doesn’t even make it to 130 pages and can easily fit into a backpack, handbag, or carry on. The content isn’t bulky and explains all the points well.
As I was reading through this book, I found myself thinking the same thing over and over, “It’s all so simple.” Rule #4 is “Break the fast” or eat breakfast. Rule #16 is “Can’t read it? Don’t eat it!” a.k.a don’t eat food with crazy chemicals in them. Clean eating is very simple and Just the Rules highlights that. We need to stop looking and wishing for a magic pill. If you want to lose the weight, get in shape, and become healthy just nourish your body with clean, whole foods. My favorite rules from the book are #2: Eat more, not less, #13: Fletcherize and swallow, and #14: A treat is not a cheat… a treat is a treat!
In conclusion, I feel that The Eat-Clean Diet Presents- Just the Rules is a must read if you’re looking to live the clean eating lifestyle. I give it a 5 out of 5. This short guide gives you all the information needed to inspire you to get started. For only $11 I encourage you to pick this book up and give it a read. When I work through my massive reading list, I plan on checking out the other books from Reno’s Eat-Clean Diet series.
Please give this post a like if you enjoyed it. Share it with a friend you’re trying to convert over to the clean eating lifestyle (or throw a copy of this book at them). If you’ve read Just the Rules, please comment with your favorite rule. I would love to know!
