Living My Best Life: September 2017

I was so pumped at the start of 2017. “This is gonna be the year. My year,” I told myself full of hope and excitement. Fast forward to July and you’d find a very different woman. I noticed a huge change in my attitude toward… Everything.

At the start of 2017, I broke my life down into five categories: Health, Career, Self-Care, Spirituality, and Travel. For each of these categories, I set two goals and listed the ways I would go about making those goals happen. By July as I looked back at these goals I realized I wasn’t on my way to completing any of them. Not even one.

The way that I’m living is entirely unacceptable. I’m dreaming of better tomorrows, but I’m not working for them. I’m on autopilot and it’s time for some major changes. That’s the point of this blog post. It’s time for me to become more proactive in creating the life I want for myself. I decided that at the start of every month I would set a few small goals that will lead me to my larger ones. The following month I will look at my progress and from there I will make adjustments. Each post will be my statement of intention. I hope that by writing these posts each month, I will inspire someone to try and make changes for themselves also.

You Are a Badass by Jen SinceroGoals

The first goal is to get back on a regular workout schedule. Ideally, I would be working out 5 times a week. My goal this month is to workout 3 times a week. That’s 12 workouts.

The second goal is to improve my gut health. I have ulcerative colitis and I would love to keep the inflammation in my gut to a minimum. This month I plan to research and create a full meal plan for myself with all my gut’s needs in mind. I want the plan to be simple to prepare and affordable.

The final goal for the month is to grow my blog following. I love writing and sharing information. I would like to gain more readers so that I can start creating dialogues with others. This is an awesome way to learn and grow.

Motivation &  Resources Your Personal Paleo Code by Chris Kresser

A huge source of motivation for me has been the book, You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. I’ve been listening to it on Audible. Jen’s style isn’t for everyone, but she speaks to me. If you’re in the market for a self-improvement book, I suggest this one.

To help me research my meal plan I picked up Chris Kresser’s Your Personal Paleo Code. I don’t plan on being Paleo, but the focus on gut health and whole foods interest me a lot. I’ll most likely write a review of the book, so keep an eye out for it. I’ll also be sure to post my meal plan when I complete it.

Well, here I go. Time to stop talking and start doing. Do you have any goals for September? Please comment below if you’d like to share.
